This Page will be updated monthly in conjunction with the club newsletter.

Mary Ann and Jerry Bodenhorn both resigned their positions at the last meeting. Phil DeAugustino has taken over as Acting President in accordance with our by-laws.

Mary Ann’s position as Treasurer was filled by Rafael Flores after an open discussion, nomination solicitation, and confir- mation vote by the General Membership in attendance. These positions are temporary pending the nomination and election of the 2018-19 slate of Club Officers in November.

A plaque was presented to Mary Ann and Jerry in recognition of their dedicated service to the club at the August meeting. Thank You, Mary Ann and Jerry!

Thanks go to my wife, Cathy, for attending last months meeting and making the announcement to the club that we had won the 2 awards that I am noting below. She also announced that I had been selected to be the “Numismatic Luminary” in The California Numismatist magazine for the 3rd Qtr 2017. Its been quite a month for me and I would like to thank the club for all the support and appreciation they have given me!

As you may have noticed on the masthead page, and as noted above, we have received 2 prestigious awards for the quality of the club newsletter. We were awarded, 1st Place “Presi- dents Award, Club Publication Award” by the Numismatic As- sociation of Southern California, and 2nd Place “Outstanding Local Numismatic Publication” by the American Numismatic Association. As the newsletter editor, I attended the awards banquet held during the Golden State Coin Show and was presented both certificates. I will have them on display at this meeting!

The Golden State Coin Show Gold Drawing was held on the 27th of August and I delivered tickets and picked up the winners! We sold $300 of tickets, and since these were all individual sales, the club profit is $120 which I will turn over to the Treasurer at the September meeting. By a strange quirk of fate, I was the only winner from the club, but I won 4 coins! There was also a winner that won 5 coins so I wasn’t the only big winner but it was certainly a surprise! I will have them on display at this months meeting along with a list of all the winners overall.

This month a nominating commitee will need to be designated for the upcoming elections. This is usually an informal process, but we need to make sure that all nominations are heard. Anyone wishing to volunteer to be on the committee please contact any Club Officer.

Our own Gus Saxon currently has a number of his own paintings on display and for sale at the Hemet Valley Art Assoc. Gallery on Harvard St. Stop by and take a look!
